The 27th Annual New Mexico-West Texas Senior Amateur will be hosted at Picacho Hills Country Club in Las Cruces, NM on April 24th-25th. This is the third time the course h
as hosted the event in its storied 27 year history. Bud Jones and Morris Ellis are past champions that were crowned at Picacho Hills Country Club.
The course features bent grass greens and blue grass tees, fairways and rough. It measures some 6,900 yards from the back tees, but the real test are narrow fairways and slick greens which come into play throughout the round. Furthermore, golfers will be greeted with panoramic views of both the Organ Mountains and the Picacho Hill.

club. The tournament will consist of a Championship Flight, Net Flight and a Women's Division. The format will be 36 holes of stroke play competition on Saturday and Sunday. After the completion of Sunday's round, players that finished in good standing will receive trophies and gift certificate money to the Picacho Hills Country Club pro shop.
Last year's Champion, Lee Sanchez of Santa Fe, will be back to defend his title. This will be Lee's second full year as a senior and we will see if he can carry on his winning ways into 2010. Other good senior players that will be featured in this year's field will be Michael Quinlan, Gary Jefferies, Barry McClure, and numerous others.
